Dear friends, the last three weeks …

I’m sharing some memorable photos and striking thoughts

🩵 Reading through the psalms has walked me through so many emotions and has me singing songs that I haven’t remembered in a long time. This has been one of my saving graces.

🩵 Family is a foundation upon which is safe to land.

🩵 The prayers of many are not repetitive or overkill but an intentional way for a community to minister to the one in need.

🩵 God is love, but he is also the God of hope. We can’t embrace hope - - unless we trust God with the people and circumstances that are precious and dear to us. If we can trust, then we will overflow with hope.

🩵 Not every prayer is a yes, but when it is, I remember that God is a God of impossible things. And for those of us who have been living for awhile, let’s remember that he still moves mountains.

🩵 The mountain he has moved for me is not my story to tell. But it is my joy to celebrate, to be grateful and to thank the many who stuck with me as I moved through the last three weeks.

I love you my Devoted Sisters. I love you my new Calvary girls. My mama. My couples community group. @karenskinner4 Girl Scouts. Fellow dance moms.

You girls take my breath away with your kindness and faithfulness. You make me strong when I’d rather be weak. You open my eyes to truth and next best steps. You listen to me in clarity and in the mess. You are my beloved sisters and I thank you.

Their bright smiles and huge hearts could not be more true. While each one of them (and me) carries a lot at any given time, the wisdom, generosity and compassion that they share is contagious.

Devoted (community group), my love runs deep. I am ever so grateful for the way you let me express my heart and for the way to listen to me, pray for me and encourage me.

I am good at giving. I’m slightly uncomfortable

I am good at giving. I’m slightly uncomfortable with receiving. I have an underlying fear of loss, I think.

This morning, once again, I was surprised by a gift of love (words) from my friend. But this time, the love sunk in. I don’t know why today. But today. Because she is all in and maybe I think I know that now. Her love is bigger than my fear.

Dear sisters, find your few. I know that’s easier said than done. Plant seeds with coffee invitations. Ask questions. Share some of your messiness, ie truths. Wait. Love some more. Show up.

Over years, a few will stick. My friend calls this good stickiness #rideordie She calls us #thelmaandlouise bc surely we will keep conspiring to change the world together.

Remember that “Neither she who plants, nor she who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.” 1 Corin 3:7.

That means the pressure is off. The one who desires for you to be in true community will be the one to grow your friendships. Be brave with yourself.

One of my goals the past two years was to find a podcast that I loved. I have read three of Kate’s books and then found her podcast too.

Kate is a historian and professor so she totally hits the part of my brain that loves academia. Plus she understands deeply the tension of a loving, good God and the hard stuff that we all struggle through.

It’s true.

Life is so beautiful. Life is so hard.

I’ve been best friends with Psalm 23 for a while now. As we acknowledge the valley, let’s also acknowledge that God’s goodness and mercy follow us all the days of our lives.
